Curriculum Web and Technology
A good curriculum web should have all the elements of a traditional classroom project. It should have clear goals and objectives that tie into the academic standards. A curriculum web is an excellent opportunity to design a project that gets students engaged in the material in a way that is relevant to them. What it should not be is an excuse to get students working on computers just for the sake of it. Children today spend enough time on computers as it is.

ReplyDeleteJason, I couldn't agree with you more. A lot of times, teachers use the computer as a reward and plan a lesson as a reward because students love to be on the computer. A good curriculum should engage the students but really be educating them. the learning objective should be clear and attainable. Students have lots of means of being entertained and the web lessons ultimate goal should be how fun it is but rather how educational it is.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying it should be boring, just that the focus should not be just on entertaining either. Our role is educator and we are using the web as a means to educate students by using methods they are familiar and comfortable with.
